Sempol Richard
Italy, San Polo di Piave (TV), 1945
Legal Name: Mattiuzzi Riccardo.
Italian artist and designer renowned for his creative versatility, seamlessly blending craftsmanship, design and fine art.
After studying at Arte e Mestieri and training as a goldsmith apprentice, he began his career as a pattern maker for leather accessories.
In 1973, he founded Buckle, a company spanning multiple sectors, from automotive accessories to promotional items, specializing in the production and distribution of “Buckle Richard”, branded keepsakes in Italy.
His deep passion for art led him, in 1975, to collaborate with Pierre-Fernandez Arman, thanks to his friend, painter Eugenio Degani, creating bronze artworks. Over time, he expanded his network by working with international artists such as Daniel Spoerri, Raymond Hains, Agostino Bonalumi, Cesare Berlingeri, Georges Boisgontier and many others.
Alongside his entrepreneurial ventures, he nurtured his painting vocation, signing his works as Richard Sempol and exploring personal techniques and styles.
