A 20th-century Hungarian-born painter and graphic artist. After graduating from medical school, he devoted himself to graphic design and advertising. In 1955, he wrote the Yellow Manifesto, outlining his ideas on art, marking the birth of kinetic art. In the 1960s and 1970s, he co-founded the Optical Art movement, an abstract art form that creates optical illusions by juxtaposing specific geometric shapes and elements with the contrasting use of colors, especially black and white. The artista chieves the effect of perceptual instability, engaging the viewer through the movement and optical deformation of the elements. His admirable works are now exhibited at the Vasarely Foundation in Aix-en-Provence.
