Jeannine Hètreau

Painter (or decorator) distinguished for the refinement of her porcelain decorations featuring historical, stylized, and detailed motifs. She served as the artistic director of the Vista Alegre manufactory from 1957 to 1966, contributing to a stylistic renewal of its production. Her most famous work is the chessboard Christians versus Moors, created in the early 1960s: a hand-painted porcelain set inspired by the Iberian Reconquista, combining formal elegance with historical sophistication.
