Davide Chiesa
Milan, Italy 1970
Architect and designer, he studied at the Polytechnic University of Milan and abroad. He opened an aesthetic studio and an exhibition space in Tortona, Milan, to give visibility to emerging voices in design, art, and fashion. In 2013, his studio focused on architecture and interior design, industrial design, graphic design, and website development. He also founded the magazine Design Tellers, which explores these worlds.
The Milan Chess Set project reflects cultural aspects related to the transformation of the city of Milan, reproducing them in a miniature format. The design of six different chess pieces, divided among skyscrapers, towers, palaces, and monuments on a horizontal surface, creates the illusion of a dynamic, evolving urban skyline.
In this forward-looking project, the choice of technology and materials is also innovative: 3D printing combined with painted nylon powder gives the set a futuristic character and a fresh, novel tactile experience.
