Definition and purpose – What are Cookies

Web pages do not have memory functions. When navigating from one page to another on a website, you will not be recognized as the same user on each page. A cookie is a small text file in which certain information about your browsing is stored. Cookies allow you to be recognized by the Website as a unique user. They are sent from the Website to your device (computer, tablet, smartphone, notebook, etc.), to be stored and then retransmitted during your next visit.

Cookies ensure a more efficient operation of the Website, improving navigation, for example by:

  • remembering the settings you have entered, so that you do not have to modify them each time you access a new page;
  • storing the information you have entered (such as username, language, browser type, etc.).

For more information about cookies and privacy, you can consult the documentation available on the Privacy Authority’s website at the following link: http://www.garanteprivacy.it/.

Accessing and browsing the Site implies your consent to receive cookies.

Duration and types of Cookies

Some cookies are automatically deleted at the end of the browsing session, while others remain stored on devices, usually within the browser used (for example: Google Chrome, Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, etc.). Cookies based on duration are therefore of two types:

Temporary cookies
Temporary cookies (or session cookies) are removed from the computer when the browser is closed. They are used to store temporary information, such as items in a shopping cart. Almost all cookies on viewed websites are session cookies whose activity ends when the Internet browser is closed.

Persistent cookies
Persistent cookies are stored on the user’s computer or other device during a browsing session but remain on the device after the session ends. Persistent cookies serve various functions in the interest of users (for example, they are used to store information such as login name and password, so that they do not have to be re-entered each time the same site is visited). They can remain stored on the device for a variable but defined period of time, depending on their function.

These two types of cookies (session and persistent) can in turn be “first-party” or “third-party”. First-party cookies are those transmitted by the website owner. Third-party cookies are those transmitted by third parties, and therefore set by a website different from the one currently being visited. These are under the direct and exclusive responsibility of the third-party provider.

At any time, you can delete all cookies from your browser. However, permanently disabling all cookies may cause browsing difficulties or, in some cases, make it impossible to use certain features of the Site. For example, you may no longer be able to: use e-commerce stores to make purchases, access the Customer Area and manage purchased products, use web-based software, etc.

Use of cookies on this site

Our Site uses the following types of cookies:

  1. Navigation cookies: we use navigation cookies to allow you to view our website, ensure it functions correctly, create your account, log in to access restricted areas, and proceed with purchases. These cookies are essential for the proper functioning of our Site.
  2. Functional cookies: we use functional cookies to remember your preferences and to help you use our Website as effectively as possible, for example by storing products you have previously viewed. Functional cookies are not essential for the functioning of the Website, but they add services that improve the overall browsing experience.
  3. Analytical cookies: we use analytical cookies to better understand how our users interact with the Website, to optimize and improve it, and to ensure it is always effective and efficient for users. The data we collect includes visited web pages, the type of platform used, date and time information, and data such as the number of clicks on a specific page, searched keywords, and text entered while using the Site.

Disabling and deleting cookies (opt-out)

Most internet browsers are initially set to automatically accept cookies. This means that you can, at any time, configure your browser to accept all cookies, only some, or to reject them by disabling their use by websites. You can also usually set your browser preferences to notify you whenever a cookie is stored on your computer.

At the end of each browsing session, you can delete the cookies collected from your device’s hard drive. If you wish to delete cookies installed in the browser’s cookie folder, please note that each browser has different procedures for managing settings.
